Model History

In 2002, Daimler Benz undertook a major effort to relaunch the renowned former luxury brand Maybach, which stood for the highest quality and technical innovation in the 1920s and 1930s. The Maybach DS8 Zeppelin with its V12 engine and revolutionary 7-speed preselector gearbox is just one example of this. The two new Maybach models, the 57 and 62, once again set standards for ultimate automotive luxury and comfort that built on the brand's heritage. This was, of course, interpreted in a contemporary way with the latest technology of the 2000s.

The multi-adjustable reclining comfort seats in the rear, similar to those in business class on an aircraft, were considered a special, innovative feature. Power was provided by a 5.5-litre V12 bi-turbo engine with 550 hp – a remarkable output 20 years ago. The Maybach 57 and the long-wheelbase 62 allow their drivers and passengers to glide along the roads offering the ultimate perfection for driving and being driven.
